Personal Development
About Our Personal Development Curriculum
Personal Development is at the heart of all we do at Quest Primary School. Our aim is that all children leave Quest Primary equipped with the character, skills and knowledge they need to be confident global citizens. Schools have a statutory duty, as part of a broad and balanced curriculum, to promote the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development of pupils and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. Our curriculum is ambitious and enables pupils to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the world and build their cultural capital. We aspire for our pupils to receive a range of planned opportunities and experiences throughout their time at Quest Primary, that support their personal development as responsible, resilient, tolerant young people who are equipped to succeed and compete confidently in the communities of the future. Nurturing these skills from a young age will support the development of good habits and positive moral attributes including determination, commitment over time and social confidence that will support future employability, relationships and self-regulation, essential in leading safe and fulfilled lives.
Our Quest Primary Values promote the personal development of all pupils:
Our personal development curriculum is a response to the needs of our cohort, which is comprised of a large proportion of disadvantaged and SEND pupils. In planning the personal development curriculum, we have considered the barriers and local circumstances that can impact a pupil’s ability to access this curriculum, such as financial disadvantage, family engagement and pupil confidence. The curriculum is comprised of a core offer accessed by all, which is complemented by an additional intervention offer, for pupils who may require more bespoke support.
The Personal Development curriculum is comprised of numerous threads that combine together to create our bespoke core and intervention offer(s). These threads include but are not limited to:
